The Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo guest at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, driven by Derek Bell

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is considered the world’s biggest celebration of motor sport and car culture.

At Goodwood, the Alfa Romeo 12C Prototipo made its grand return to racing, piloted by Derek Bell on the world’s most famous Hillclimb, in front of an ecstatic crowd.

“A historic moment for me, so many people were talking about her,” said Derek Bell after driving the car at the FOS. “The history surrounding the car is incredible and I was very honoured to drive it.”

Derek Bell is an undisputed motorsport legend and is considered the greatest British endurance racer of all time. He has won the 24 Hours of Le Mans five times, the 24 Hours of Daytona three times, and the world sports car championship title twice.

Progetto 33 with the Alfa Romeo 12C was invited to participate in the Goodwood Festival of Speed by the Duke of Richmond himself, who is also the author of the preface to the book dedicated to the car’s mysterious history, “The Missing Link?”. The 12C was unanimously considered one of the most beautiful and fascinating historic cars at this year’s event.
